For a time I was a marine scientist, which had been an ambition of mine since grade school. The years I spent in school, doing fieldwork, research SCUBA dives, and immersing myself in the study of the ocean were some of the best of my life.

To keep my gills wet, I am currently a volunteer SCUBA diver at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, TN. I’m there every fourth Tuesday, so wave if you see me!

Here’s a smattering of my marsci background:

    • M.A. Marine Science, University of Miami
      • Researcher in the Marine Biology and Fisheries department evaluating the impact of the bait shrimp fishery on the benthic communities in Biscayne Bay and developed the report to Biscayne National Park
      • Served as acting Assistant Diving Safety Officer for RSMAS/U Miami
    • National Academy of Sciences, Ocean Studies Board, Washington, DC
